Billed as a “sketch show set in contemporary America,” series will be exec produced by “American Idol” producer Simon Fuller and is set to debut in 2008. Lucas and Walliams will share exec producer credits, alongside David Steinberg, while Larry Brezner is on board as producer.
I’m serious about this. Maybe, just maybe Simon Fuller’s participation is finished now that Matt Lucas and David Walliams have a deal with HBO and they can go about writing and shooting a great series.
However, should Fuller try to get involved creatively, I think fans of BBC’s Little Britain should come up with ways to keep him busy. Send to his home everything from unordered pizza to unordered hookers to random Idolcontestants from the past (the ones that were so bad they made William Hung look good).
Or maybe, have someone say they’re from Coca-Cola or Ford and the product placement deal is in jeopardy. There’s a way to distract him!
I’m hopeful that David Steinberg (it is THE David Steinberg, isn’t it?) will be able to act as a buffer should stuff come up. These guys need to be set free to create. They don’t need micromanaging.
